Another Day Iced In

Today was the 3rd snow day for the kids.  We are not used to being home so much and decided to do something this morning that we don't normally do.  We made our own doughnuts.  I know it isn't the healthiest breakfast, but the kids really enjoyed cutting out the doughnut holes and eating them of course.
After breakfast, I set out to update the kids' baby books, something I have been meaning to do for a while now.  I didn't actually get that much done because Alli, Cole and I got caught up in looking at pictures.  I love to look back at the kids' baby pictures and see how much they have grown and changed.  Alli, the 2nd mother of our family, sat there and told the boys who everyone was in the picture and what the picture was all about.  It is fun to see life through her eyes.   Here's a few pictures that made me smile and I don't think anyone has seen before.  Enjoy!

Today warmed up enough to melt most of the ice away and I, I mean, We are looking forward to going back to school tomorrow.

Ice Storm January 2009

What these poor Oklahoma kids get excited about is amazing.  We are officially iced in as we received quite a bit of freezing rain yesterday, sleet last night, and some sleet and snow mix today.  Alli and Cole got up this morning and were so excited because the ground was white.  They instantly started to get boots, coats, hats and gloves on to "go play in the snow."  Oh, if they only lived where real snow fell!  After walking out the front door, they quickly realized that this was a little different from the snow they have seen at Grandma and Grandpa's in Kansas, but they went on trying to make snow angels (the sleet still falling from the sky pelted them in the face),
snowballs (fell apart in their gloves as they tried to scoop it up), and sledding.  That's right sledding.
And you know what they found out, ice sledding is quite fun and faster than snow sledding.  I took them up by our neighborhood pool where there is somewhat of a hill and they made quite a few trips up and down.  Our daughter is more of a dare devil than we could have ever imagined!  They had a                                                             great time today with friend and neighbor Maddie.

Start of Something New

I am setting out to try something different.  In the past I have tried to email everyone pictures of our family to keep everyone up to speed.  We are very proud of the little ones that we have been blessed with (who are not so little anymore), but we don't get to share them with everyone as much as we would like.  So, I am setting up this blog so that all of you can stop by every now and then and step into our world for a little bit.  This is a work in progress, so please be patient with me.  I have learned from a friend that this is a really nice way to share a little bit of ourselves with everyone. Thanks Erin, love your blog!  Hope everyone enjoys The Henry 5 Happenings.
