A Big Disappointment

Last week, the subject of everyone's conversation was the amount of snow we were going to get.   4 to 6 inches (ALOT for around here).  We were so excited!  Friday came and the rain started...the storm was coming!  Friday 6 pm...still raining.  The weathermen said it would start snowing at 8 pm.  OK, as long as it's still coming.  8pm...still raining and much of our yard is under water.  Weathermen said it would start snowing at 10 pm.  "Its not going to snow, is it,"  I told Jeff.
"Yes,"  he said.  "we will see snowflakes before we go to bed."
10 pm...still raining.   Weatherman again put off the snow until 2 am.   Once again I told Jeff, "We aren't going to get any snow."
"Yes," he said.  "The ground will be white in the morning."
I went to bed with this awful feeling that we were not going to get the snow we were promised.  This worried me a little because Alli's soccer game had already been canceled and she asked a friend to spend the night.  They had big plans about getting up in the morning, bundling up, and making a "snow girl."

Well, guess what...we woke up, went to look out the window and saw...nothing.  It hadn't snowed one single snowflake.  The kids were disappointed, to say the least, and we spent the morning trying to explain why it hadn't snowed what it was supposed to.  "We live in Oklahoma,"  was the best explanation we could come up with (although much of western Oklahoma did get significant snow).
About lunchtime, it did snow enough to cover the grass for about an hour.

Yeah, the day did not go the way our Oklahoma kids wished it would have.

Expanding Families

We would like to introduce 2 new members of our families.

Brayden Lee was born January 2.  He is #8 for the Ansel clan.

My sister Amy and husband Michael have Dylan LeRoy who is 15 months old.
We have Allison LeAnn 6, Cole Eugene 3, and Nolan Robert 19 months.
My brother Curtis and wife Emily have Taylin Jean 5, Paityn Alivia 2, and Brayden Lee almost 3 months.
My sister Amanda and husband Jory have Avery JoAnn 9 months old.
That is 8 little ones 6 years old and younger.  It is a busy house when we all get together!

Brooke Danielle was born on February 5 to Jeff's sister Melissa and husband Bill.

She is #5 on the Henry side with our three and Brooke's big sister Taylor Dawn who is 8 years old.

Big families are fun.  We don't get to see them as much as we would like, but it is great to see the excitement in our kids' eyes when they get to play with their cousins.

Sickly Household

Unfortunately, this post to our blog will not be all that fun to read because I will be telling you about the week of a sickly household.

It all started a week ago when Nolan went in for his 18 month check-up.  He started coughing the night before and by the morning, was feeling pretty crummy.  The diagnosis:  ear infection and upper respiratory infection.  Medicine prescribed and he is on his way to feeling better, slowly but surely.

Then came the weekend when Alli's eyes started puffing up, turning pink, and hurting/itching.  When I took her to the doctor:  pink eye and an ear infection.  Eye drops and medicine prescribed and she is doing much better.

Monday night as we were getting ready to go to the OKC Thunder basketball game, I thought my left ear was going to burst.  Culprit:  ear infection.  Meds prescribed and starting to feel better.

It is Thursday now and it's Cole's turn.  He isn't exactly sick, but his asthma really flared up last night.  His doctor gave him a breathing treatment this morning and gave us a prescription to have a nebulizer at home.   His inhaler just wasn't giving him any relief.  His breathing treatments are working wonders for him today, besides making him bounce off the walls.

Jeff doesn't really feel that great and it looks like his eye is a bit red, but he hasn't broke down and gone to the doctor.   Hopefully his ailments are due to allergies and lack of sleep.

Although it was exhausting, we did have a great weekend with family celebrating Alli's 6th birthday.  We are looking forward to a fairly quiet weekend this weekend and catching up on some sleep.  We hope everyone reading this is steering clear of the many illnesses going around.   I also hope to report on a much healthier Henry household very soon.  We love you all!
