Hoping to raise Readers

The kids and I went and checked out the "story hour" at our county library this morning. I expected someone to read a few books to the kids or a puppet show maybe, but we were pleasantly surprised with an actual play with actual actors in costume. The kids loved it! It was a funny little story called "The Old Woman and the Willy Nilly Man." The actors did a really good job keeping the kids attention (even Nolan's) and involving them in the action of the tale. Alli and Cole laughed and really got into helping with some of the scenes. The library has this "story hour" every Thursday and we are excited to see what tale they will tell us next week.

After the play, we went to check out some books (Mom and Dad are really tired of reading the same books over and over at home). They looked through shelf after shelf finding so many books they wanted to check out...and then we got Alli and Cole their own library card. They thought they were so big! This may have even been their favorite part of the morning:). We left the library with plenty of books for a few days, or so I thought. They looked through their books on the way home and then when we got home we spent the next hour or more reading all of them. I was so glad they were excited about their trip to the library, loved to read their books, and are ready to go back. I have a love of reading myself (just finished Fireproof, EXCELLENT read!) and hope to rub that love off on them. It is very important to read, of course, but it is also a lot of fun.
